FaddaSantos was formed by Caterina Fadda and Fran Santos to design distinctive products and furniture for industrial production.
A thorough understanding of materials and manufacturing processes sustains the studio’s creative approach. The emphasis is in exploring the decorative within the functional in order to create desirable objects.
The design office is based in Central London and works on briefs from international leading manufacturers, department stores and cultural institutions. Clients include: Altro/UK, The Aram Gallery/UK, Authentics/Germany, Bormioli Rocco/Italy, The Design Museum/UK, Fidas/Spain, Gaia&Gino/Turkey, Guzzini/Italy, John Lewis plc/UK, JosephJoseph/UK, PMI-Aladdin/USA, Rosenthal/Germany.
The studio leaders have won international recognition with numerous awards, exhibitions and publications and in 2009 the office was awarded the red-dot for Product Design 2009.
FaddaSantos employs free-lancers from different disciplines including prototype makers, graphic designers and interior designers.

Caterina Fadda 2 pink

Caterina Fadda was born in Sassari, spent her childhood in Tuscany and moved to London in 1985. She graduated in Ceramics at the University of Westminster (1992-95 BA) and obtained a Master Degree at the Royal College of Art (1995-97 MA Ceramics & Glass).
From 1998 till 2004 she ran her own design and production. With distribution to 20 countries, clients included: Silvera, Le Bon Marche’/Paris, Arango/Miami, Axis/Tokyo, Design Museum, Vessel, Harrods, Habitat/London, Nordiska/Stockholm, Desde Foundation/Athens. Her work received international recognition and was awarded several prizes, including the Peugeot design award, Sainsbury’s prize, 100% Design and the Westerwaldt preis.
The ambition of designing solely for mass manufacture materialized in 2004. Since then Caterina has completed several projects for leading brand manufacturers and department stores. For one year she also took on the challenge of running the product development for Gaia&Gino/Turkey. In 2009 she received the RedDot Award for Product Design.
Following several successful collaborations with furniture designer Fran Santos, in 2009 they set up the FaddaSantos partnership .
Caterina has been visiting lecturer at the University of Westminster, Falmouth University and Central St Martins. Since 2011 she is Associate Lecturer at Central Saint Martins Product Design.

Fran Santos was born in Seville and moved to London in 1989 where he studied Furniture Design and Cabinet Making at the London College of Furniture. His original practice El Ultimo Grito (in partnership with R. Hurtado and R. Feo) won international recognition with several design awards including 3 consecutive Blueprint 100% Design awards, 2 Peugeot awards and the Valencia international design mention of honor.
Fran continued his studies first at Middlesex University with a BA Hons in History of Art and Architecture, then at The Bartlett school of Architecture/UCL for the MA in Architectural History. He has taught Design History at Chelsea College of Art and has run design workshops at Falmouth University and Middlesex University.

For his work as an independent designer he has won the Vitra design competition in 2002 and the RedDot Award for Product Design in 2009. He has curated and designed exhibitions in London and Spain and his furniture has been featured at The Aram Gallery/London.
Fran has been collaborating with Caterina Fadda since 2005 before setting up FaddaSantos in 2009.
